With the end of the works on metro “C”, the new gardens of Via Sannio were opened. Bordering the splendid Aurelian walls, they enjoy the view, from a different perspective, of the basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano. The park fence made of a mixture of iron and masonry is also very beautiful.

On this occasion, a column bearing a statue of the Virgin Mary was placed in Piazza Mignanelli next to Piazza di Spagna in 1857. The column comes from Roman excavations, while the statue was sculpted by G. Obici. #Rome December 8, is the religious holiday of the “Immaculate Conception” dogma of faith proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854. The monument to St. Francis of Assisi (1181 / 82-1226) on the square of Porta S. Giovanni was inaugurated in 1927 on the occasion of the seventh centenary of the death of the saint.
