Feast of the Immaculate Conception 8 December


#Roma On December 8th is the religious feast of the “Immaculate Conception” dogma of faith proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854. On the occasion of this event, a column bearing a statue of the Virgin was placed in Piazza Mignanelli, next to Piazza di Spagna in 1857. The column comes from Roman excavations, while the statue was sculpted by G.Obici.
