Rome Baths of Diocletian, the “Cypress of Michelangelo”
Not many know that inside of the Baths of Diocletian (Zone Of The Piazza della Rupubblica) there are four cypresses which tradition and probably according to history, they were planted by the Supreme Architect.
During the time that Michelangelo was busy in restoring what is now the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, he would have planted these hundred year old trees, the large cloister of the former monastery of the Carthusian monks, and today the Roman National Museum.
The famous church was carved by Michelangelo taking advantage of the great walls of the Tepidarium and Frigidarium of the ancient emperor Diocletian baths.
