Rome: also this year the rose garden on the Aventine hill opened. In this space, with a splendid view of the Palatine Hill and the Circus Maximus, you can admire more than 1100 varieties of roses.
The garden boasts a very ancient tradition, in fact from the third century BC it was dedicated to flowers, probably there was the temple of the goddess Flora, at least that’s what Tacitus refers to in the Annales.
THE current garden is due to the Countess Mary Gailey Senni who worked on the renovation works and in 1932 she inaugurated the construction of the new garden.
The garden is open until sunset.
