#Rome December 8, is the religious holiday of the “Immaculate Conception” dogma of faith proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854. On the occasion of recital recital was placed in Piazza Mignanelli, next to Piazza di Spagna in 1857, a column bearing in the top an image of the Virgin. The monument to St. Francis of Assisi (1181 / 82-1226) on the square of Porta S. Giovanni was inaugurated in 1927 on the occasion of the seventh centenary of the death of the saint. The sculptural group remembers the pilgrimage of the Saint in Rome with Pope Innocent III along with his followers to acknowledge the rule of his foundation.
